We are very fanatic about our mission to sustain nonprofits. Once you get your donors to support you with monthly subscriptions, you want these donations to continue over the following months.
We measure this continuity by the total amount given by a specific donor throughout their whole donation period, we call this - in the analytics world - the donor's Life Time Value (LTV).
Donors can cancel their subscriptions at any point of time -- if they mean it, it's okay. But in some cases, they might cancel due to the confusion made by the misrepresentation of the charge on their credit card's statement.
Charges through GivingLoop were used to show GivingLoop's name on the donors' credit cards statements. That was inefficient. Donors can easily forget what GivingLoop is; since they aim to support your nonprofit's mission not GivingLoop, and might not be totally conscious about GivingLoop's name.
Practically, confused donors will seek ways to stop this unknown charge. They either advise their bank not to let the charge go through, call their banks and dispute the charge or even worse, they could issue a total replacement for the credit card. Not good.
We changed this behavior. Your organization name will clearly show up on the statement. Stripe allows us to print only 22 characters in this space, we take your organization name on file, cut any characters beyond the 22nd and show it on the statement.
If you still need a more customized description on your donors' statements, please contact our support team to get this done for you.
Here is an example for how your charge should show up on your donors statements.
